Clean Feel Good TV shows in Netflix

First of all, I love when a movie has a series because I know what I am going to watch for quite some time.  Actually, I’ll be honest, I don’t watch a lot of TV.  Between keeping up a blog and a house and 4 kids – who has time for TV!!  Well actually – I make the time because I really enjoy a good show.  My general rule is, I can only watch a show if I am running on my treadmill, or killing time between kid drop offs and pick ups.  Knowing that I have a TV series going on that I am dying to see is a sure fire way to get me running!  And yes, I run for about 1 hour on my treadmill and it speeds by with a good show.  {Side note: not really sure why I can’t get my baby weight off.

Second of all, I am pretty picky about what I watch.  I really don’t like shows that leave me feeling yuckafter I watch it.  I am very selective about filling my brain with clean, feel-good, and for the most part – family friendly shows.  Most of the shows I am about to recommend, I wouldn’t mind one bit if my kids watched with me.  However, some are just more mature in nature and I don’t think my young kids need to be exposed to it quite yet.  I’ll mention that in my reviews below.  But these 10 TV shows/series I feel are clean enough for me to enjoy and I feel good enough about recommending them.  Let me be a little more specific.  I don’t like violence or movies saturated with . . . ahem . . . the 3 letter word that has to do with the birds and the bees . . . if you know what I am saying.  Some of them may suggest such material, but do not have scenes that would make me blush or cringe if my kids walked in.  I also don’t like shows that are full of cussing.  Basically, I just like shows that leave me feeling uplifted, inspired and happy – and these 10 shows do that for me.  Most of them are online streaming with Netflix, or with your amazon prime streaming.  I am going to send you to the amazon links (affiliate links) of each show so you can read reviews and other information (or purchase if you don’t have Netflix).  Or you can simply log on to your Netflix account and search the title.

Third of all, I noticed I also enjoy shows that are based on history/ times past/ foreign and that are full of style, decor, and trends common to the time and place.  And, most of them are really good chic flicks – just to forewarn you.  Basically – I watch most of these without my husband – and he watches his action movies.

Colors TV’s highly popular celebrity talk show  “Comedy Nights With Kapil” will soon ends its journey. Stand-up comedian and Bollywood actor Kapil Sharma’s show will go off air within a month.

Host Kapil Sharma confirmed the news, saying that the last episode will air on Jan. 17, 2016.

“Yes, it’s true. We told them we would go off air in December, but since they didn’t have a replacement ready, they requested us to continue till January 17. We started on a good note and put in immense hard work to maintain the quality,” Sharma told The Times of India.

Sharma and his team are reportedly unhappy about the step-motherly treatment received from the Colors TV. The channel is aggressively promoting the newly launched comedy show “Comedy Nights Bachao.”

“We have been successfully entertaining the audience for the past three years with our content. But when our show became a habit for the viewers, they introduced another one on similar lines. Celebrities who readily agreed to come on our show were told that they will have to make an appearance on the other show as well,” the stand-up comedian and bollywood actor said, according to DNA India.

Several Bollywood stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone, Sonam Kapoor, Kangna Ranaut, Katrina Kaif, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Asin, Ranbir Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan have appeared on the show, according to India Today.

The Prince of Persia Games from Worst to Best

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (2003)

With this game Ubisoft brought the Prince of Persia series to new heights, and created what is no doubt the best Prince of Persia game to date. And everything about Sands of Time, from the great Middle Eastern setting to the beautiful art and graphics, and delightful musical score, just smacks of perfection. And even if the gameplay was a bit too easy, performing acrobatic moves like running along walls, jumping between pillars and avoiding devious and mean looking traps was an experience like no other.

Also the ability to use the dagger of time to rewind time and save the prince from a certain death was one of the game’s most novel features, and one of the cleverest gameplay ideas seen in a game to date. And the prince’s companion Farah was a great female supporting character who would help the prince solve the game’s environmental puzzles and also aid him in combat against those pesky sand creature enemies, in what was surely an unforgettable game and the high point of the Prince of Persia series.

BradyGames’ “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Official Strategy Guide” features a step-by-step walkthrough with detailed 3D area maps, complete coverage of every trick in the Prince’s acrobatic arsenal, and the best paths around every dangerous trap in the game. In addition, every adversary is dissected–the strengths and weaknesses of each Sand Creature, along with the moves to destroy them, are revealed This Signature Series guide features exclusive extras like a history of the acclaimed “Prince of Persia” franchise and character and enemy artwork from the “Sands of Time” game. Indian Web Series

Amazon show Inside Edge

If 2016 was the year international online streaming platforms like Netflix and Amazon announced themselves in India with big-ticket acquisitions and critically-acclaimed shows, 2017 would have to go down as the year when the trend caught on with Indian companies.

This year, Indian OTT players like Hotstar, Voot and Alt Balaji have in more ways than one showed that they are ready to dig into this relatively new segment, armed with content worthy of satiating the new-age audience’s growing appetite.

Listed below are the top five shows from the Indian OTT industry that made a mark this year.

Inside Edge: Amazon Prime’s first Indian original series has set the bar high for Netflix and other entities looking to pr

Bose Dead or Alive: This project made a lot of headlines this year, particularly because of two people involved in it – Rajkummar Rao and Hansal Mehta.

Bose Dead or Alive gave OTT player Alt Balaji a much-needed boost after its the false start with Nagesh Kukunoor-directed Test Case, which has seen only one episode released so far.

Needless to say, Rajkummar Rao’s acting, along with some tout direction and suspense helped this show make quite the splash.

Laakhon Mein Ek: Adding to Amazon Prime’s India success in 2017 was Laakhon Mein Ek, a very refreshing take on the pressure faced by children from small cities and towns to enter the hallowed IITs.

Playing the role of Aakash, Ritvik Sahore followed up his acclaimed performance in in Dangal as Aamir Khan’s young nephew very well on the show. The series struck a chord with a large section of the audience and garnered rave reviews.

Sarabhai vs Sarabhai Take 2: Making a sequel of any cult show is always going to be a daunting task and no one would have realised it better than the makers of Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, the cult half an hour daily show that was aired every Monday on the erstwhile Star One.

While the new show aired exclusively on Star’s OTT platform Hotstar and evoked a mixed response, there’s no denying that the show did bring out some nostalgia and viewers were immersed in the quirky world of the Sarabhais for 30 minutes a day.

Time Out: This series, which aired on Voot and starred Tahir Raj Bhasin and Sarah Jane Dias, is a quirky series about a urban couple.

The story is about a man, who while dealing with the pressures of a job and married life, along with the weight of expectations, decides to hit the pause button in life.

What appealed to the younger audiences was the refreshing take Time Out provided on marriage, which is otherwise a subject of great interest for people in nearly every age group.

Netflix coming ‘Narcos 3’

Netflix has confirmed that Narcos will return for a third series

Only the most hardened of binge watchers will have got through series two, which dropped last Friday.

Those 10 episodes followed the final months of drug lord Pablo Escobar’s life, with many thinking it would also mark the end of the show.

But the makers clearly feel there is more to tell. If you’ve got through to the end of series two, you’ll have had a clue the story would continue.

We remember what it was like when Netflix first started coming around with Narcos, its Pablo Escobar TV show. It seemed fun, then, and maybe a little dangerous. (Heck, maybe it was fun because it was a little dangerous.) In any case, it livened up the streaming service’s schedule, and made it more fun to talk about at parties. And sure, we rolled our eyes when Netflix renewed the show for season 2. We made snide little jokes to hide our nervousness about all this new Pablo paraphernalia. But it’s not like Netflix had a problem, or anything.

Now, Deadline is reporting that the service has ordered Surviving Pablo Escobarfor itself, meaning it might be time to confront the ugly truth: Netflix is addicted to shows about Pablo Escobar, and it has been for a while.

AIB to debut news comedy series on Hotstar and Star Network

Star Network is gearing up to launch a new news comedy series by comedy collective AIB, called ‘On Air with AIB’, in October. The 20-episode show will be released on Star’s OTT platform Hotstar first, followed by weekend airing on Star World and Star Plus. Ten of the episodes will be in English and the remaining 10 in Hindi

When asked to comment on the series, Uday Shankar, CEO, Star India, reluctantly said, “I am told that based on extensive, exhaustive research, AIB are considered mildly entertaining and we should give them a show on our network. I have complete faith that we will regret this in the months to come.”

Ajit Mohan, Head of Hotstar, added here, “We are sort of excited to bring AIB’s brand of mature humour to our platform. This may be the start of a new era of quality content in India, I am told. Janta hamein maaf karein (May the public forgive us)!”

Meanwhile, all four members of AIB had this to say, “We have no idea why anyone in their right minds would ask us to inflict our views on unsuspecting audiences. Also, we live in such a perfect country where everything is amazing and where the maddening, infuriating and often silly state of affairs is not a comedic goldmine, so why would you have us do news comedy? But we’re doing this because we want to see what it’s like to be on a show that requires us to put on pants.”

‘On Air with AIB’ will be a weekly series with English and Hindi episodes airing simultaneously on Hotstar on Thursdays and on Star World and Star Plus on Sundays. The series will cover themes of national and local interest.
